FOR THE PRICE CONSCIOUS FASHION GIRL: MR PRICE NOW OPEN IN LAGOS!!.

So 3 days ago, i was out pulling looks for an upcoming shoot. Usually on days like this when i'm pulling, i start my day really really early as i usually have to drive. Better to be finish 'too early' than get caught up in the very unpredictable Lagos traffic. After my pulls, i decided to go chill with my best friend Fola . I hadn't seen her in ages. I needed to gist with her and also ransack her closet.

Somewhere in our convo, she told me South African fashion retail brand Mr Price was opening their first store in Lagos. The idea of Mr Price is what you would describe as a sale that never ends. I don't know how they do it but ... just be happy. They stock great quality clothing and accessories from high street brands at very very reasonable prices all year round. i just checked out their website and fb page and people are really crazy about them.

I'm always saying Ikeja is far but not anymore. I love a good bargain. i will make out time soon.

They launched on Thursday 29/03/12  at the  Ikeja City mall Alausa Lagos.

VELVET

I remember growing up here in Lagos, i hated this trend so much because of the 'akwaoche' thing. It was so so mass produced and at church every Sunday, if you turn around you can literally see everyone wearing it. To make matters worse they had the Givenchy knockoffs that were so popular. Does anyone remember? At that time my mum still bought my clothes. Thankfully she's never been one to follow trends so she never bought me one.

Fast-forward to 2012. I'm so in love with this trend and you should too. If you're gonna do the trend make sure the insides are lined with cotton or some fabric gentle on the skin. It is very hot in this country.

POST AMFW TALK.

Hiya,

So sorry i haven't posted in a while. I've jst been pre-occupied with life and getting stuff done. New posts coming up soon. I'm still sad i wasn't working at Arise though, but i'm done sulking. Did you guys follow the runway shows? Neks2u and Bella Naija have all the photos from the catwalks. Its pretty hard not to get excited about fashion week with all the buzz all over Lagos. I enjoyed the street style too. The best fashion is definitely always on the street.

Looking at all the photos from the shows i was wowed designer after designer. We've got so much talent in this part of the world. It was also refreshing not to see so much ankara/tribal prints. Don't get me wrong. I love African print and wear them. But i'd rather see designers work with other fabrics as i think its been overflogged already.

I loved Clan, Gavin Rajah, Tiffany Amber and her protégée Ejiro Amos Tafiri which happened to be my best show . Lots of fluid, lace, earth and jewel tones. The styling was amazing too. See photos here

Thanks a lot to everyone that stops by to read my posts. Means a lot to me :)

PS- I've recently developed a raging sweet tooth. 'Raging' being the keyword. This cannot be good because you see, i have just one molar left. I stopped after i took the 2nd to last one out and the dentist sat me down for a serious talk. I'd been fine for almost a year but here i am again. Cadbury's dairy milk fruit and nut is the main culprit here. I need to do something about this.Your suggestions are very welcome.

ARISE MAGAZINE FASHION WEEK 2012: THE SCHEDULE (UPDATED)

As most of you know. Wednesday's shows were postponed as a result of technical difficulties. The schedule below is a new one.

Sadly i may not be styling backstage anymore. I missed the 2nd screening, hence i couldn't make it through. Sucks balls because even though i can still attend the shows, the place i really love is the chaos that is "backstage". I'll still be be following all the shows though :)

............................................................................................................
Whoop whoop!! Arise is finally here. Venue is the Federal Palace Hotel VI. Will you be attending any of the shows? Be sure to follow the shows and look out for runway photos from the official site or bellanaija.com or hautefashionafrica.com.

Me, i should be backstage somewhere. Lol. If i can manage to steal a few shots i'll post them. Truth is most times when we fashion girls are working backstage there isn't really anytime or chance for photos.

Let the excitement begin!
