STYLING FUNKE

Keeping up with my promise to share more of my work. Here's Funke Akindele on the July cover of Genevieve Magazine, which i styled along with my Editor Ohimai Atafo.

Funke is the funniest person ever. I was in stitches half the time. We gisted a lot while she was in hair and makeup. She also showed me her Kukere moves as well.

PS- Not sure, but you may still be able to find the magazine in stores and on the street as we skipped the month of  August. Next issue is out September. Make sure you buy Genevieve or better yet subscribe to see more of my work going forward plus Genevieve is always a juicy and inspiring read at the same time. xx

RE-BELLE

So I've been meaning to post this up for a while but I've been busy as usual. Sure you guys must have seen this all over the web. Its the new A/W 2012 collection from Republic of Foreigner tagged 'Re-belle'

I'm particularly in love with this collection. If you've been following the ROF brand since 2010 when they launched, i'm sure you're just as excited. The collection lives up to its name as well. You see the unusual hemlines, cut-outs and unexpected detailing.

I give them thumbs up too for styling. I definitely see rebel in the choice of shoes, spiked necklace, makeup and the way that the pieces have been paired. There's a nice mix of feminity and masculinity going on. Love it.

As a sharp stylist, i'm glad to say that i have already snagged a few sample pieces for a shoot last week and i hope to share with you all when it gets published. xx

BELLE NOIR

Hi There,

Hope everyone's week is going well. My weekend was a work filled one. Back to back shoots and all.  Had a shoot for Genevieve magazine on friday and worked all through saturday and sunday on a video shoot. Coupled with pre and post shoot logistics, sourcing clothes and everything in between, all i can say is my eyes are a mess.

Speaking of shoots, here is a shoot i styled earlier on in the year. It was my first test editorial ever and was photographed by top Nigerian Fashion and Wedding photographer Kayode Martins of Xsightn photography.

I called it Belle Noir which translates literally to 'Beautiful Darkness' as it was inspired by the rich mahogany skin tone of the model. I've loved her skin tone for ages and finally got a chance to have it photographed.

The year is running by so quickly and things have been so fast paced for me. I've done a lot more shoots some of which i may be sharing from time to time as privacy permits...but yeah i definitely share. Hope you guys like it.

Enjoy.

Kayode is in love with wide angles.

FUN WEEKEND

Hi ya,

I know i've been really bad with blogging these days. I apologise.

A few weeks back, Mango, Etam and Enzo launched a new collection at a fashion show sponsored by Martini. I attened with my friend and her sister. I remember it was such a rainy day in Lagos and i almost didn't attend.

Glad i did though, I love fashion shows whether working backstage or observing as a guest. I loved the clothes and i got to finally meet stylist and editor of Mania Dimeji Alara who styled the Enzo collection. I found it rather cool he knew who i was :)

Some of these photos were taken with cell phone cameras so please excuse the low quality.

Uju and Chinwe.

Waje
I have to say, i've never been into Waje till i listened to her sing live. Her voice is amazing. Someone said on twitter once that he'd like Waje to sing at his wedding and i was like really? I take that back a million times.

There were a whole bunch of cool looks on the runway but these, i really liked.

Love these shoes. Its not a coincidence that i have two of Oiza's photos up here. Clothes sit so well on her. I absolutely love her on the runway.

This look i really really loved. BETH models are fab.

P.S- There was this model that kept sucking in her cheeks and doing this thing with her neck. Sort of like what Eva Marcille does but totally off. It kind of hurt my own neck just watching. If you were at
the show you probably remember. Lol

PS- Please do remember to visit Genevieve Magazine online all the time.  Just like the magazine, the site is packed with  inspiring articles, gripping true life stories, financial advice for women and of course fashion! It promises a wholesome experience and yes there are frebbies too. See the site HERE

Cheers until later. xx
