I remember growing up here in Lagos, i hated this trend so much because of the 'akwaoche' thing. It was so so mass produced and at church every Sunday, if you turn around you can literally see everyone wearing it. To make matters worse they had the Givenchy knockoffs that were so popular. Does anyone remember? At that time my mum still bought my clothes. Thankfully she's never been one to follow trends so she never bought me one.
Fast-forward to 2012. I'm so in love with this trend and you should too. If you're gonna do the trend make sure the insides are lined with cotton or some fabric gentle on the skin. It is very hot in this country.

wow, I remember the "aposhe" days. the mass production in Nigeria was so horrible. I kind of like the ones I see nowadays.
ReplyDeletei believe you mean velvet and not suede.
ReplyDeletelol. Its easy to just refer to suede or velvet as suede cos its the more popular 'term' in the country. but yes you are right. Lol.
