So for my first post i thought I'd share with you, some of my favourite wardrobe staples. My personal style is comfortable, very sexy and fun. I hope you find some inspiration. Enjoy!
The white blouse
The white blouse is a very basic piece. it can be dressed up with a pencil skirt for work or worn with skinny jeans on a fun date. whether they come in simple cotton, silk, sheer or lace. you cannot go wrong with one of these.
Chain strap purse
Warning! one of these will cost you an arm and a leg or even your head. If you can't afford these please go for simpler brands like Aldo or H&m. They are just as stylish.
High waisted skirt
High waisted skirts, apart from accentuating the waist will hide a multitude of sins. Say for instance you decided that doing your regular sit-ups have become like rocket science. Michelle Obama incorporates skirts like this a lot in her outfits. My favourite way of wearing them is with a beautiful silk round-necked blouse. Very sexy!
Nude pumps/courts
Once upon a time, I never saw myself in one of these. But from the first day i set my eyes on this particular baby by Jessica Simpson. It was love at first sight. The colour is not as light as it looks here.On ground, They are like mustard coloured. Sadly i couldn't find my size. I'm still on the hunt for one though. So if one of you hunters find it,kindly holla.
Blazers
Oversized bag
One of my male friends once swore that he found a loaf of bread in his girlfriend's bag. Also one of my male colleagues is always trying to see the inside of my bag. Oh well ladies carry stuff around. An entire outfit sometimes and what better way to carry than in a very large bag. lol
Shorts
Shorts are perfect for a relaxing weekend on the town. Or if like me, you spend your weekends running errands or driving in the heat of Lagos, then have this handy. You can pair with flip flops or ballet flats. The trick is to choose one that suits your frame. If you are not going to meet P-square on set, please choose a loose fitted pair just like this.
Basic black pumps
These are so essential, if you were to write the elements of the fashionic table,They would come first. They can be paired with almost all outfits and they will take a rice sack from drab to fab. OK maybe if you add a belt.
Perfect jeans.
For me i think you don't need too own so many pairs of jeans. Just a few that fit perfectly. Picking out the perfect pair is always so tedious you have to try on about 20 to find just 1 pair. I have had just 5 pairs for about 2yrs now and i think i wear only 3 of them. skinny jeans especially are not really comfortable in the heat.
A tailored pair such as this is perfect for work or a formal meeting. Pair with a blazer or a beautiful blouse and high heeled shoes.
Gorgeous Prints
Prints are a great way to add the tribal element to your wardrobe. Try African printed/Ankara maxi dresses such as these. Printed skirts, shorts, neck pieces, bangles, purses and sandals are also very stylish.
Pearls
According to an anonymous quote i came across sometime ago,"the pearl is the queen of gems and the gem of queens".
Cardigans
A simple cardigan belted at the waist as pictured here, paired with a pencil skirt and court shoes is one of my favourite looks . It can also be dressed down with jeans or shorts for a more casual look
and finally ...
The little black dress aka LBD
I feel like the need for every girl to own at least one LBD cannot be overemphasized. They are perfect for almost every occasion and they are never out. When in doubt of what to wear just choose black and you can never go wrong. As with all other clothes put your body shape into consideration when choosing one.
